Boho Private Ride

In which we work out together and then drink wine.

We’ve long been obsessed with Boho, our gorgeous hometown cycle studio (named one of the 12 Most Beautiful Fitness Studios on Instagram). These 50-minute spin classes are a total blast thanks to the pumping music and infectious instructor energy.

On Thursday, July 19, Here. is taking over Boho’s Museum District studio for a private ride! And we want you to come! Obviously. Your finish line reward? We will offer a well-earned wine tasting from Veritas Vineyard & Winery: red, white and bubbly.

Spots are limited, so book now!

Stay Day

It’s often hard to figure how to give back. Good news: we found an awesome, easy opportunity for you.

We recently discovered Stay RVA and identified with their mission of making Richmond a place people want to stay.

Among their many programs, Stay RVA hosts what they call Stay Days, in which the community is invited to support Richmond youth via school beautification projects.

Their next Stay Day is on July 21, when volunteers will head out to either Thomas Jefferson High School in the West End or Fisher Elementary School in Southside to beautify those spaces. All you need is a paintbrush! Good feels guaranteed.

VOL. 41  /  SUNBURN

Yesterday's mid-week holiday was just a teaser for all of the fun to be had this weekend. Props if you extended your vacation a couple days. For those of you facing re-entry this morning, these ideas will carry you to Saturday, back to break mode and those classic Americana vibes.

Who's already sunburned?

Look Back

This vibrant, spunky taco joint has been resurrected following a fire in its original home in Carytown, and is open now in Scott’s Addition. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have it back!

Go traditional or gringo when ordering from quite a variety of tacos and pair them with a jalapeño-orange marg. They also offer a killer half-price happy hour Monday-Friday 3-6pm. While you're there, pick up a game of pool or shuffleboard - Tuesdays you play free!

Pool

Time

The Fourth doubles as a celebration of all things summer, so we hope you're water-bound this weekend. In last week's volume, we broke down enjoying the best of the James River. Now, we're going poolside with a few tactics for your consideration.

First, did you know the city of Richmond maintains seven public pools as part of the parks system? Yes, you heard us right: free pool access. Check the schedule for open vs family vs adult swims.

Consider checking into the Graduate for a staycation and bask rooftop by their pool with a drink in hand.

And don't forget the classic: hit up your friends to tag along to their apartment or club pool!

VOL. 40  /  RIVER CITY

They don’t call Richmond the River City for nothing. This week, we’re supplying you with the ultimate guide to the James for festivities to last this weekend, into the Fourth and all summer long.

Let’s roll!

P.S. We're hosting a private Boho Cycle ride + wine tasting for members on July 19! Initial details at the bottom of this newsletter...

Riverside

Outfitters

Recent heavy rains have raised the water level and added a little zip to currents. That's not ideal for swimming, but those are perfect conditions for a guided rafting trip!

Riverside Outfitters offers quite the variety of rafting trips for all adventure levels. The Lower River trip brings insane views of Richmond’s skyline plus Class III and IV rapids. Insider tip: this trip, among others, are discounted on weekdays! For our members chasing a thrill: check out the guided whitewater Duckie trips.

June 29 (that's tomorrow!) is your last opportunity this season to catch a Friday evening sunset trip… think calm vibes and great views. Plus, when you get back to the shop, you’ll enjoy a drink under the stars. Talk about the dream Richmond evening.

Pipeline

Pacing

If only walking on water were possible... well, you’ll come pretty close on The Pipeline. This metal catwalk stretches atop the giant stormwater pipe intersecting the river in downtown Richmond.

Finding this secret spot is half the adventure! Drive to the address below in Vitals, turn left onto East Byrd Street, taking a path to the floodwall and pipeline parking. After parking, follow the gravel path along the outside of the floodwall until you find the Pipeline sign on your right. Just climb down the ladder, and you’re set!

Go for the gorgeous views or hop off at various spots to relax on some sandy spots. P.S. it’s a fantastic photo opp!

Reedy

Creek

To top off your river excursion, visit the main area of the James River Park System in Reedy Creek. There’s a few spots to find parking for easy access to this 2.6 mile trail stretching from the Atlantic Coast railroad to the Manchester Climbing Wall.

While walking, biking or running along the trail you’ll find several secluded, peaceful spots to enjoy the river. If you’re looking for a new place to hike, take the Buttermilk Trail and then reward yourself with a nice picnic lunch.
