We love that sweet spot at the tail end of summer when things are still slow and hot, but fall is a brilliant prospect ahead. Take this long weekend to savor the moment.

Labor Day plans and more coming your way... read on!

Ironclad

Coffee Roasters

Another delightful Richmond coffee shop to add to your hit list: Ironclad Coffee Roasters. When better to try than a lazy, long weekend?

This East Grace Street roastery offers specialty grade coffee and a homey atmosphere. The shop carries quite the variety of blends from its dark blend “House of Usher” to “Bare Knuckle” expresso, and everything in between.

Our current obsession though? The sweet potato ham biscuits made by local baker, Lark Baking Co., proudly served at Ironclad. Or do what we did, and order one of everything in the baked goods case. You know, to go with the coffee.

Tuckahoe Creek

Americana Festival

Haven’t made it out to Hardywood’s new West Creek taproom yet? The perfect opportunity is coming your way this Saturday.

Hardywood West Creek is hosting its first big music festival, the inaugural Tuckahoe Creek Americana Festival. Headliners include Charlottesville's own Hackensaw Boys, The Tillers and Richmond-native Dharma Bombs, plus others, all offering a folksy mix of bluegrass and American roots tunes. This outdoor festival will feature multiple stages, as well as craft vendors, bonfires, yard games and a killer line-up of food trucks, of course.

Tickets are $20 for general admission including parking, or $50 for VIP which includes access to a private serving area, catering and a merch package. Kiddos 12 and under get in free. Sounds like the perfect easy start to a long weekend!

On September 7, The Faison Center’s Junior Board will host its annual Endless Summer Party to benefit the center. the Soul

Yoga is the ultimate tranquil pastime and the perfect opportunity to hone your mind-body connection.

There are so many fantastic studios in Richmond, but we love a little place on Libbie Avenue by the name of Om On Yoga. The warm instructors, cork floors and soft lighting create a serene environment, the ideal spot for practice. Plus, you can browse their incredible shop after class.

Already a yogi and looking to deepen your practice? Or are you a newbie looking for some peace and quiet? On Sunday, August 26, Humble Haven Yoga will host a Silent Staycation. For five hours, you’ll practice hot yoga, have group meditation, eat dinner and enjoy a sound bath. All. In. Silence. Sounds intriguing, right?
