Plants
We’ve been plant-obsessed for a while, so we were excited to hear that Pomona Plants has moved to a brand new home to expand and transform their company. Partnering with recently launched women-owned Hazel Witch Farm, the shop will feature herbs and flowers, along with native plants from TreeLab.
And Pomona isn’t taking over just any old space, but the former home of much-loved Roaring Pines. Pomona will continue the legacy of Roaring Pines' famed food and beverage service, while Roaring Pines’s Drew Dayberry continues to pursue his Dayberry Brooms company.
Enjoy a cozy retail experience and sip on something refreshing all in one. Visit this weekend and bring a new plant friend home!
The 1717 Innovation Center is at it again. On October 16, Capital One's Design Pro Bono team will host "lightning" talks about design for social impact. Six local leaders will each share how they leverage the power of design for positive impact in our community. You'll recognize a couple speakers from our past newsletters. Check the full line-up at the link below.
Tickets are just $10 and going fast, so we wanted to give you plenty of notice! Allow the talk to inspire vision for how you can make an impact in your sphere.
Calling all cyclists! Or, you know, people who like bikes. There's a new opportunity to put your hobby to work for good.
The inaugural Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Cycle for Life takes off from Hardywood West Creek on October 28 to benefit the search for a cure.
This event has a course for all levels of cyclist. For you athletes out there, the 65-mile route through some of good ole Virginia rolling hills should provide a nice challenge. If you prefer a more laid-back cadence, pedal to the metal along either the 15-mile or 22-mile route options.
Cap off the day at the finish-line reception with a Passion For A Cure beer, also benefitting CFF.

What better way to celebrate your own birthday than to celebrate a child's birthday? We are fully enamored, head-over-heels crazy about the mission of Celebrate! RVA. This non-profit gives disadvantaged children a fun, safe, memorable birthday party.
Their next big party/fundraiser isn’t until March, but when your birthday rolls around, you could sponsor a child’s birthday for just $15. Or get a group of friends together to make birthday cards for the kids. Donate party supplies; volunteer. There are so many options. You can even enter a raffle to win a car, all proceeds benefitting Celebrate! RVA.

Every Tuesday evening through the end of October, Sportsbackers is treating Richmond as a living gallery as they guide a run past some of our city’s sprawling street art and murals. By the time you’ve finished those four miles, you’ll have earned that celebratory beer!
